Clearwater Beach, Florida: Seagull Saturday
Happy Saturday! Happy Seagull Saturday!!

Yeah, I just made that up. But it works, doesn't it? :D How can you resist a picture like this, of this beautiful bird? They are beautiful. Oy, but get a dozen or two of them all fired up about a bag of bread, and you are in for an ADVENTURE! Something everyone should experience at least one time in their lives!

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Castles Of Sand, Waves Of Destruction

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Castles Of Sand, Waves Of Destruction
A beach is a good place to be reminded of the impermanence of life. You can build a wonderfully grand and fortified sand castle, but when high tide arrives... the show is over.

If you open up the 'viewer' of your mind to a longer perspective, say 100 or 1,000 years, you start to realize how little of the world we know is meant to last.

Clearwater Beach, Florida: View From Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge

Clearwater Beach, Florida: View From Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge
The tallest buildings in this image, near the center of the 'skyline' are 440 West and 450 West, which I have posted about before. This is a great view of the southern end of Clearwater Beach, from the Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge, as I was heading over to walk and watch the sunset.

In the foreground is Clearwater Harbor, while in the distant background the water you see is the Gulf Of Mexico. It's a lot of blue, it's a lot of water. It's not a bad place to live... not bad at all.

**NEWS UPDATE**: Willa Carson Health Resource Center: Donation Challenge Underway!

Okay, it's been over a week since I first posted this story about the free clinic in Clearwater that needs your help. Perhaps you have been waiting for someone else to go first... perhaps you have been wishing for more proof of legitimacy... well here you go.

"Last week, the Garrett Staples Osteosarcoma Research Fund presented the center with a check for $10,000 and issued a challenge to the residents of Tampa Bay. For every dollar donated to the center through April 18, the Garret Staples Foundation will match the amount."

That's right out of the St. Petersburg Times, as of today! Click here to read it for yourself. This would be a real good time to step up and do something for each other! Please, let people know about this. Even if they don't have $10,000, they can make a difference. Even just $10 will make a difference. Click here to read the text of the original story.

They are running out of money, and they need help.

Click here to visit the Center's website (it is not complete yet, but there is good information about them). They are a legally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation according to the website.

Everyone's financial story is different, so I leave it up to you to decide how to help, if you are so inclined. But consider this... to some of you out there, $100 would be no big deal at all. To others, $1,000 would never be missed, and so on. If you are like me, you might not even have $10 to help with right now.

We all help in ways that we can. I can write about it here, and try to get the word out to more people who might be able to help. You might know someone who can spare $20, or $20,000. Ask them. Tell them. Please. Ask you employers, if appropriate. I am going to ask mine.

If you or someone you know can mail a check, make it payable to: Willa Carson Health Resource Center, and mail it to: 1108 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Clearwater, FL, 33755. Thanks for reading all this.

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Homes & Housing Options For Living Or Vacationing

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Homes & Housing Options For Living Or Vacationing
When it comes to staying on the beach, whether that means living out there, or taking a holiday or vacation, you will find many options for housing. Some will be more reasonable than others, some will be more sophisticated that others. This picture, with its fine balance of sand and sky and housing, shows what some of those options look like.

Wow, it sounds like I am practicing to become a vacation brochure writer! Oy! Well, here is another part of Clearwater Beach. So you get a little more idea what it is all about down here. Come visit, bring lots of money, or whatever you've got, and have a bunch of fun in the sun. Please... don't forget your sunscreen!

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Theme Day: WATER: Sunset Wave Action

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Theme Day: WATER: Sunset Wave Action
I admit, this is not a very recent photograph, but it is one that presents a face of water that I really enjoy seeing. The Wave. Yes, waves. Water is magical in so many ways... and waves are one of them. If you think of it, water is not an autonomous organism. It does not, it CAN NOT, decide to make a wave. It has no part in the origin of waves.

So what's going on here then? ENERGY! Yes, water is an incredible carrier, or storage system, for energy. That is all a wave is... energy that has been 'injected' into the water. So here's a new thought for you: The next time you are standing on the beach looking at all the waves, think of all the ENERGY out there, sloshing around!

There are almost 200 Daily Photo bloggers participating in today's Theme Day. I encourage you to wander through the list below and check out 'WATER' from around the world.

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Beach Scene: Water Spread Thin

Click for larger picture in a new window
Clearwater Beach, Florida: Beach Scene: Water Spread Thin
I really, really love it when the water gets like this. I am not sure why, but I do. Maybe it has to do with walking slowly, relaxingly, through this thin veil of water that covers, yet reveals, the sand beneath it, and the way it paints the sand. When it paints it like this, the sand, which was so ordinary when dry, becomes so alive.

Or maybe I am just nuts. :)

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Beach Driving, Pier 60, Roundabout

Clearwater Beach, Florida: Beach Driving, Pier 60, Roundabout
Though not a technically superior photograph, note the wildly skewed angle, I find this one adventurously pleasing in it's dynamism. LOL. What did he just say? He said: "Yeah, it's crooked, but I like it!"

While riding in the car, spinning through the Clearwater Beach roundabout, I snapped this shot of the cars exiting out to head south into the area that is supposed to become the 'Billion Dollar Beach'. You can see a traffic control billboard sign ahead, that helps to let people know they are entering a construction area. On the right you see the entrance sign to Pier 60.

If you are headed down to the beach on a beautiful, hot, sunny day to enjoy the white powdery sand, please take a dose of patience before you go. There are lots of people heading that direction, and the construction does not make it easy going at times.
